While Kyle McCord has clearly put up better numbers in the preseason than Tyrod Taylor, it hasn't been clear in practice that McCord is significantly better than Taylor as a backup option going into the 2026 season. Both quarterbacks threw bad balls in team periods today. If today is any indication, just based on reps, McCord is of no threat at all to Tyrod.
