ArticleFantasy Football Mock Draft: How to Approach Pick 1.09 (2026)
From the article
Yes, last season was pretty awful for Saquon Barkley and those who drafted him, but the warning signs were there. Barkley had an absurd number of touches in 2024. Once he and the Eagles were hit with regression, it was no wonder things crashed back to Earth. Of course, it wasn't all Barkley's fault. Jalen Hurts had one of his worst seasons as a professional, and offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo went one-and-done. With a new offensive coordinator and a healthy offensive line, it's not hard to start seeing positives for Barkley.

Barkley's 2025 decline was predictable; new coordinator and healthy line support bounce-back.
Despite a disappointing 2025 season, Barkley's downturn was predictable given his absurd touch volume in 2024 and subsequent regression; with a new offensive coordinator, a healthy offensive line, and Jalen Hurts expected to rebound from one of his worst seasons, Barkley is positioned for a bounce-back. At 29 years old and having not missed a game in over two years, he remains the undoubted No. 1 RB in an offense that will score points.
