Gang Green Nation on Garrett Wilson
ArticleHow will Frank Reich impact Garrett Wilson’s usage as Jets offensive coordinato...
From the article
Wilson has been on the field for five passing plays on third down. On four of these plays, the Jets have come out in a 3x1 formation with three eligible receivers on one side and a single receiver on the other. On each of these plays, Garrett Wilson has been the single isolated receiver on his side. Isolating Wilson gives him more room to operate. He's more likely to get a one on one and less likely to get caught up in traffic, which allows him to feast on his route running.

Wilson isolated on 4 of 5 third-down plays; formation strategy maximizes his route-running edge.
In preseason third-down situations, Wilson has been isolated in 3x1 formations on four of five passing plays, positioned as the lone receiver on his side of the field; this isolation strategy gives him more room to operate, increases likelihood of one-on-one coverage, and reduces traffic congestion, allowing him to leverage his elite route-running ability on critical downs that decide drive continuation.
