From the article

Cowboys TE Jake Ferguson is a two-time Pro Bowl alternate from the 2023 and 2025 seasons. Under this system, he would never have been. That could matter when it's time for players to talk contracts, or when Hall of Fame credentials are being discussed.

Ferguson's two Pro Bowl alternates won't count under new NFL format, affecting contract and HOF value.

Ferguson is a two-time Pro Bowl alternate from the 2023 and 2025 seasons. Under the NFL's new format eliminating the Pro Bowl game and alternate selections starting in 2026, he would never have received those honors under the retroactive standard. This could impact his contract negotiations and Hall of Fame credentials, as the absence of Pro Bowl recognition on his record may affect both agent/owner valuations and fan perceptions of his career accomplishments.
