Fourth-year pro has taken the vast majority of second-team reps during training camp and preseason workouts in competition with rookie Ty Simpson for the backup QB role. Started against Kansas City but played only two series, one resulting in a field goal. Against New Orleans, Bennett played the first half, completing 19 of 31 passes (61%) for 181 yards and two rushing touchdowns. McVay said he had not made a determination about Bennett's status heading into the final preseason game, though one of Bennett or Simpson will be the backup in Australia.
