Perfect fit for Payton's catch-and-run role; WR15 upside at WR23 ADP.
Jim Coventry calls Jalen Waddle at WR23 ADP a steal. Injury concerns are overblown; he's barely missed any time in his career, only a couple games. In Miami, he was getting creamed on catch-and-run concepts because Tua Tagovailoa has a weak arm and defenses compressed everything in. In Denver, he'll be in a healthy situation: elite offensive line, strong run game (Dobbins/Jonah Coleman), and Cortland Sutton commanding attention on the outside. Bo Nix can throw short and intermediate. Broncos sent first, third, and fourth-round picks to bring Waddle in for the role tried with Troy Franklin—nine targets per game with designed catch-and-run opportunities. Franklin failed the experiment with poor YAC (19, 27, 40, 80, 80 yards in five games), but Waddle is the perfect player for that role. Defenses cannot compress the field against Denver the way they did against Miami, so Waddle won't take the same beating. Waddle should get WR15 numbers at WR23 ADP.
