Negative signalProjection

McCarthy's poor preseason may cost him a roster spot in Minnesota.

McCarthy's 2024 preseason performance has been so poor that the Vikings signed Kyler Murray and gave him the starting job early in camp; McCarthy may not even make the initial 53-man roster in Minnesota. He did not play in the final preseason matchup against the Broncos despite being given a day off to rest, with Carson Wentz appearing to be in line as the team's backup. His comfort (or lack thereof) with being QB3 could dictate his future in Minnesota.
