Dawgs By Nature on J.J. McCarthy

Vikings' decision to let Darnold walk for McCarthy now looks like a franchise-altering mistake.

McCarthy was drafted 10th overall in 2024 by Minnesota, who doubled down on him by letting Sam Darnold leave in free agency to hand him the keys. The source characterizes this as 'a brutal series of decisions with franchise-changing ramifications,' and notes that most believe McCarthy was overdrafted by a couple of rounds. The Vikings' decision to invest heavily in McCarthy and then pivot away suggests significant organizational regret.
