While Ehlinger did stand out on paper, I'd put a big asterisk by his stat line. Two of his touchdowns were on completely busted coverages...He's a decent enough backup guy, but solidly behind Stidham in my mind. I'd still not save a roster spot for him.

Ehlinger's TD stats misleading; source recommends waiving him to practice squad.

Sam Ehlinger's preseason stat line is inflated by two touchdowns on completely busted coverages that he would not see against normal NFL-quality defenses; the source recommends not saving a roster spot for him and instead letting him go through waivers to the practice squad, as he is solidly behind Stidham.
