Johnson completed 12 of 19 passes for 156 yards against Philadelphia in his first-half appearance and had previously thrown for 156 yards and two touchdowns against Chicago. Despite the strong performance, Cincinnati didn't have a 53-man roster spot for a third quarterback behind Joe Burrow and Joe Flacco, so Johnson was released as a vested veteran and is free to sign elsewhere.
