Ankle injury escalated to multi-week status; McCarthy self-benched despite medical clearance.

McCarthy suffered an ankle injury following the Ravens preseason game that he initially said would not cause him to miss games. He practiced twice that week and showed no signs of injury, but was held out of Wednesday's practice as a precautionary measure. However, on game day, McCarthy told Kevin O'Connell he wasn't comfortable playing and took himself out of the final preseason game despite being medically cleared. NFL insider Adam Schefter subsequently reported McCarthy's ankle injury is a multi-week injury, which would sideline him and kill any near-term trade scenario.
