Allen will play in season opener despite DWI arrest; Colts won't discipline him internally.

Colts GM Chris Ballard confirmed that Keenan Allen will play in the season opener against Baltimore on Sept. 13 despite his Sunday DWI arrest in downtown Indianapolis. The Colts will not administer internal discipline; however, the NFL could still impose a fine or suspension if Allen is convicted or pleads guilty to a criminal offense related to alcohol, which would constitute a violation of the league's substance abuse policy. Ballard defended Allen's character, citing his 14-year career with no prior issues, his decorated teammate status, and his strong relationships with Colts head coach Shane Steichen and former Colts QB Philip Rivers from their Chargers tenure together.
