That's too flashy of a number for being one of three running backs on the practice squad. No. 30 is a more humble look for him. Also like a non-20s number for a smaller guy who profiles in part as a pass-catching back.

Practice squad RB Blue moves to No. 30, reflecting depth role and pass-catching profile.

Running back on the practice squad changed to No. 30 after wearing No. 23 in his rookie regular season (matching his Texas number) and No. 34 in preseason; the source views the lower number as more appropriate for his depth status and pass-catching profile, suggesting he is one of three running backs competing for practice squad snaps.
