Williams expanding role beyond deep threat; mastering intermediate routes in McDaniels' offense.

Second-year wide receiver is expanding his offensive role beyond his elite deep-ball threat profile. In 2025 training camp, Williams spent significant time running intermediate routes and moving around the formation after spending virtually all of his rookie season outside and on the ball. Wide receiver coach Todd Downing noted that Williams is becoming more comfortable with the speed and urgency required for intermediate decision-making in Josh McDaniels' offense, praising his "do anything he's asked approach." Williams himself acknowledged the challenge of mastering intermediate route concepts but expressed confidence in his development: "Year 1 to Year 2 it's definitely been night and day. Now it's just that ball finding me across the middle and everything so I can really showcase what I've been working on."
