In the end, Nussmeier actually did have some decent moments in the preseason, making difficult throws, moving in the pocket, and overall showing the staff some positve signs for his development.

Garrett Nussmeier, the last LSU player picked in the draft, is set to be the third-string quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs. With Patrick Mahomes as the starter and the team trading for Justin Fields, Nussmeier was always likely to be the third option going into the season. He had a decent preseason, making difficult throws and moving in the pocket while showing the staff positive signs for his development. He did not throw a touchdown and had one interception, but otherwise showed a good start to a potential long NFL career.
