At this stage of their careers, I just don't see Metcalf and Aaron Rodgers as a great duo. Rodgers, 43, wants to get the ball out his hands immediately to avoid taking any hits. Adam Pfeifer is not drafting DK Metcalf because the Steelers receiver's fit with Aaron Rodgers is poor. Despite running 59 routes as the only wide receiver on the field (most among receivers), Metcalf averaged only 6.6 targets per game and 22% target share, finishing outside the top-24 fantasy receivers at 12.5 PPR PPG. Rodgers, 43, prioritizes quick-hitting plays: 31.7% of his pass attempts were at or behind the line of scrimmage (highest among qualified QBs), and he led the NFL in pass attempts within one to two seconds (193, 39% of total). Metcalf caught just 15-of-38 targets of 11-30 air yards, while Rodgers ranked 23rd in 10-20 air yard attempts. New addition Michael Pittman Jr. projects to lead targets because he meshes better with Rodgers' slant-route and timing-concept preferences (Rodgers targeted slants 96 times over two seasons; Pittman had 15 slant targets, 8th most in football). Mike McCarthy's addition of 11 personnel will increase Metcalf's target competition.
