Backup quarterback Jameis Winston and starting left guard Jon Runyan Jr. — who were both set to become free agents following the 2026 season — agreed to two-year extensions Sunday. Winston, who was set to make $3.95 million this year, landed a $13 million deal.

Winston signed a two-year, $13 million extension with the Giants through 2028, securing his role as backup quarterback and mentor to Jaxson Dart. The extension provides the Giants certainty behind Dart in case of injury; Winston appeared in three games last season (two starts in November when Dart was injured, plus two snaps on Dec. 14), completing 37 of 66 passes for 567 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. He is now logging critical reps with the second-team offense in training camp and helping Dart adjust to the new system under John Harbaugh.
