Pacheco was placed on injured reserve to start the season. General Manager Brad Holmes said he "hopes Pacheco returns this season," suggesting there appears to be something more insidious going on with Pacheco's back than initially thought. Jacob Saylors and Sione Vaki will compete for the primary backup role behind Jahmyr Gibbs.
