McCaffrey might not have the absolutely legendary fantasy upside we've seen in his league-winner years if this split continues — which it should. Yet, the risk of injuries and a decline in rushing efficiency are much lower as a result.

McCaffrey's upside capped by workload split, but injury risk and efficiency decline lower.

Matt Harmon acknowledges McCaffrey may not have the 'absolutely legendary fantasy upside' of his league-winner years if the reduced workload split continues, but frames this as an acceptable trade-off: the risk of injuries and rushing efficiency decline are much lower. In Week 1, McCaffrey generated 18 opportunities and 88 yards from scrimmage, which Harmon considers solid fantasy production despite the role reduction.
