Packers released Bo Melton on Friday just over 48 hours before their season opener as a roster management move; Melton is expected to remain with the organization on the practice squad in week one and will play Sunday as a practice squad elevation before returning to the 53-man roster the following week. Melton has been a mainstay of the Packers' special teams units for the past two-plus years, logging over 300 special teams snaps across the last two seasons as one of the team's primary punt gunners and kickoff coverage players, with the team's coverage units visibly suffering late in 2025 when he missed the last few games with an injury.
