Among 54 qualifying tight ends, Mayer ranked tenth in target per route run rate (23%), 23rd in yards per route run (1.57), and 19th in first downs per route run (0.086). Mayer could easily flirt with TE1 production in Week 1 against a defense that allowed the ninth-most yards per target and fantasy points per opportunity to tight ends last season.
