In the second quarter against New Orleans, Goff was sacked by Chase Young with the ball jarred loose; officials reviewed the play and ruled it an incomplete pass rather than a fumble-recovery touchdown for the Saints because Goff had already begun his throwing motion when contact occurred. The ruling kept Detroit's drive alive, and the Lions subsequently built a 21-point lead en route to victory. Goff joked after the game that he thought it was a good call but admitted he didn't know the rule.
