Pierce managed to play in Week 1 after an offseason largely spent on the sidelines during practice; following surgery on his left ankle, he was not activated from the PUP list until late August and had three limited practices with a heel injury leading up to Week 1. He sustained a hand injury during the Ravens game but played out the game; X-rays on his hand and wrist came back negative, and Pierce wore a brace after the game but did not appear concerned about missing time.
