Stribling's deltoid ankle sprain sidelines him at least one month; surgery possible.

The 49ers rookie wideout suffered a deltoid (medial) ankle sprain in Week 1 against the Rams. Medial ankle sprains are much more uncommon than lateral sprains but take longer to heal due to the strength of the deltoid ligament; a piece of bone will frequently break away before a high-grade sprain occurs. Stribling is expected to miss at least one month with the ailment, and surgery has not been ruled out. He is slated for further evaluation, and a trip to injured reserve may be required.
