Pickens caught 3-of-6 targets for 28 yards in Week 1, handling 40% of Dallas' air yards with go routes making up 37.5% of his usage. This was a notable shift from his first year with the Cowboys when he was utilized much more on in-breaking routes; he ran only one route from the slot despite HC Brian Schottenheimer saying in the offseason that Pickens would be moved around the formation more.
