Black's 14 carries and 65 yards raise questions about backfield split going forward.

Rookie running back Black out-carried Christian McCaffrey 14-10 in Week 1, gaining 65 yards on his attempts with explosive play and a 14-yard long run; the source notes this is only the third instance of a 49ers RB not named McCaffrey receiving 14+ carries in a game where McCaffrey played (Elijah Mitchell had 18 in Week 10 2022 and 17 in Week 17 2023), making it significant but uncertain whether intentional or a one-game blip.
