Ken Zampese, his former position coach from the 2018 season, reunited with Mayfield in Tampa and praised their prior working relationship, noting that in Mayfield's third season with the Browns (2020), he led the team to a playoff appearance, a wild-card win over the Steelers, and a divisional-round near-miss against the Chiefs after the Browns were 1-31 before that season started.
