Hubbard locked in as lead back; Brooks underperformed and Dillon got more work.
Hubbard remains the clear lead back in Carolina despite offseason concerns about Jonathon Brooks taking his job. In Week 1, AJ Dillon had more rush attempts than Brooks (5 carries, 28 yards), while Brooks managed only 3.5 yards per carry on four attempts. Hubbard had 49 yards on 10 carries and the only touch inside the 5-yard line. Atlanta held Pittsburgh to a league-low 58 rushing yards in Week 1, but if Cooper Rush starts again, the Panthers will likely establish the run more than Pittsburgh did (24th in rush attempts). Any clear No. 1 RB on an offense deserves to start more often than not.
