The Phinsider on Chris Bell
From the article
Jeff Hafley on wide receiver Chris Bell's development after missing most of training camp recovering from injury: "I think he's a guy that he started late, I mean, he missed all OTAs, he missed most of training camp. So this is still the development process of him of learning the scheme, being confident because sometimes, if you haven't done it a whole lot, you're not playing as free, you're not playing as fast."
STACKED’s take
Bell flashed in Week 1 despite missing OTAs and most of training camp; ahead of schedule post-injury.
Wide receiver returned from injury and flashed in Week 1 despite limited training camp reps. Coach Jeff Hafley explained the development context: 'I think he's a guy that he started late, I mean, he missed all OTAs, he missed most of training camp. So this is still the development process of him of learning the scheme, being confident because sometimes, if you haven't done it a whole lot, you're not playing as free, you're not playing as fast.' Hafley noted Bell's early performance: 'He flashed in that last game. He had the catch across the middle. There was a couple shots he had on down the field and putting DBs on the ground.' Hafley emphasized patience given Bell's injury recovery: 'he's ahead of schedule with his knee, probably playing sooner than we thought he would, and now we're counting on him.' Teammate Bobby Slowik highlighted Bell's run-game effort: 'Chris Bell had a knockdown like 15 yards down the field.'
