Murray earned Vikings starting role after O'Connell's thorough vetting process.

Kyler Murray has earned the starting QB role for the Vikings after being signed by coach Kevin O'Connell, who conducted extensive due diligence on Murray's character and capabilities. Murray praised O'Connell's approach: 'With all the narratives that have been said about me, KO really dug deep. He talked to people that knew me, really everybody under the sun.' Murray also noted O'Connell's ability to gauge players' temperament and provide support during difficult weeks, saying 'He has a great gauge of guys' temperament' and 'He'll pull you aside when he doesn't have to.'
