STACKED’s take
Lock's second-half performance (10-14, 136 yards, TD) shows promise as emergency starter.
Lock was thrust into action five plays into the season after Sam Darnold's hip injury, completing 16 of 22 passes for 187 yards and a touchdown in 3½ quarters. In the second half, he was particularly sharp, hitting 10 of 14 passes for 136 yards and a 45-yard touchdown pass to Jaxon Smith-Njigba on fourth down. The source notes Lock accomplished this with minimal preparation reps with the starters, having run scout team all week. Seahawks teammates expressed confidence in his ability; Cooper Kupp said he "did a phenomenal job" despite taking "basically no reps with any of the guys that were out there all week." Brady Russell added that "with a whole week of preparation, should be excited about seeing what he brings to the table."
