Stroud's two-week sample shows good QB play, but elite peers made winning plays he didn't.

Through two weeks, Stroud has shown himself to be a good NFL quarterback who should start for probably half the league, but the source notes that elite QBs made plays in these games that Stroud simply did not make. While the source acknowledges nuance—offensive line, receivers, coordinator, and scheme all matter—the core take is that elite quarterbacks make plays to win games while good quarterbacks don't, and at a $60 million contract, Stroud needs to be one of those guys who makes plays to get his team over the hump. Since his rookie season, when he managed games well, he hasn't consistently been that guy.
