Smith's route is just as good. He straightens his stem to close the space between himself and the cornerback, waits until he reaches the defender's blind spot, and then breaks outside. Smith then catches the ball cleanly away from his frame, as he did all game, as if it's effortless. He finished with 117 yards despite only five yards after the catch. He won with route running, body control, and ball skills. He looked like a true WR1 because he is one!

Smith was dominant on the outside throughout the game, finishing with 117 yards on only five yards after the catch, winning through elite route running, body control, and ball skills. His route work was exceptional—he straightens his stem to close space on the cornerback, waits until reaching the defender's blind spot, then breaks outside. He catches cleanly away from his frame consistently. Smith was completely in sync with Hurts, working back toward his quarterback on comeback routes and preventing cornerbacks from playing through his hands. He looked like a true WR1 because he is one.
