After a letdown last season in usage and production, Irving has taken ahold of the backfield through two weeks and looks closer to his rookie season self. In Week 1, he posted 45 yards and a touchdown on eight carries with seven receptions for 48 yards. In Week 2, he had 17 carries for 89 yards and four catches for one yard in a negative game script. His usage is extremely encouraging: Gainwell was the only other back to carry the ball in Week 2 with just two carries; Irving ran 24 routes to Gainwell's 13; each were targeted four times but Irving more than doubled Gainwell's snap total. Tucker has been a non-factor. This backfield belongs to Irving.
