Johnson has Harbaugh familiarity; 1-1 as 2025 Commanders starter.

Josh Johnson, currently on the Bengals practice squad, is a candidate for the Giants' backup QB role. He has prior experience with John Harbaugh (2016, 2021, 2023-2024). Johnson started two games for the Commanders in 2025, going 1-1 with a 63% completion rate, 372 passing yards, 1 TD, and 2 INTs. The Giants would need to sign him directly to their 53-man roster, unlike Garoppolo who could start on the practice squad.
