Kyler also had to rewire himself. You know, being in a pure air raid in high school and then air raid in college... it's taken Kyler a long time to get there, too. But, again, it takes a while. It takes a long, long time to learn how to throw to space instead of people.

NeutralRole

Vikings' QB solution; also had to rewire from air raid to space-creation principles.

The Vikings brought in Kyler Murray as their starting quarterback, signaling a shift away from waiting for JJ McCarthy's development. The source notes that Kyler himself had to undergo a similar rewiring process, moving from pure air raid schemes in high school and college to learning to work in the middle of the field on time with space-creation principles. Like McCarthy, Kyler took a long time to learn how to throw to space instead of people, but he has made that transition. The Vikings are betting that Kyler's experience and proven ability to operate in a West Coast system will provide immediate quarterback competence.
