The Metcalf trade and extension are looking foolish; he's nearly matched his drop total for all of last year (4) in just two weeks and is on pace for a 26-drop season at his current rate. The pairing with Rodgers never made stylistic sense—Rodgers likes precision and prefers quick hitches over the vertical routes Metcalf is better suited for, and Metcalf lacks the stop-and-start speed needed for those routes. Both Arthur Smith and McCarthy have tried to increase targets via screens and quick game, but Metcalf isn't helping matters with his drops.
