There're a lot of Texas Tech guys too. It gives me some more motivation to go out there and compete because I was going to watch these guys play and talking to them in the locker room. Now, they'll be playing against me, so I know they'll be hungry to go up against me as well.

Mahomes sees Texas Tech alumni on Dolphins as motivated competitors, not a trap.

Mahomes views the Week 3 matchup against Miami as a competitive challenge rather than a trap game, noting that multiple Texas Tech alumni on the Dolphins roster—including rookie linebacker Jacob Rodriguez—will be motivated to prove themselves against him. He frames this as additional motivation for himself, stating the Texas Tech connection 'gives me some more motivation to go out there and compete' and acknowledging that his former college peers 'will be hungry to go up against me as well.'
