STACKED’s take
Penix's debut is pivotal for Falcons offense revival and long-term QB evaluation.
Penix returns from a 10-month absence to make his 2026 debut against Green Bay after two weeks of abysmal quarterback play from Cooper Rush. The source emphasizes that all eyes are on Penix to revitalize the Falcons offense; he has the big arm, which is a welcome upgrade. The critical question is whether the Falcons will let him unleash it or play it safe and ease him into the offense. So much of the team's future hinges on this decision, not only for determining whether Penix can be the long-term answer at quarterback beyond this season, but also for revealing how the coaching staff might handle a different young quarterback taking over next season. Penix has shown flashes through his first 12 NFL starts but is at a critical point where those flashes need to become a more consistent, steady pulse to show there is light at the end of the tunnel for the Falcons at quarterback.
