Long-term injuries to both Charlie Kolar and David Njoku have left beleaguered Bolts OC Mike McDaniel no choice but to use his best tight end in Week 3 (and beyond). I think there's a good chance that route rate climbs in Week 3 with injuries to Njoku and Kolar, whose slot rate was 21 percent and 20 percent, respectively.

Long-term injuries to Charlie Kolar and David Njoku have forced Chargers OC Mike McDaniel to use Gadsden as his best tight end in Week 3 and beyond. Gadsden has operated from the slot on 39 percent of his routes and from the boundary on 28 percent through two weeks; his route rate is likely to climb with Njoku and Kolar sidelined. Against Buffalo's weak slot coverage (10th highest completion rate over expected, seventh most slot targets allowed), negative game script could boost Chargers drop back volume and give Gadsden upside. Jaylin Noel rates him as a potentially better play than Colston Loveland in Week 3.
