Marcus Mariota will continue as the Commanders' starting quarterback in place of Jayden Daniels. Commanders GM Adam Peters called Mariota "the best backup quarterback in the league" and expressed confidence in his ability to run the full offense. Mariota is in his third season with Washington, started eight games last season with 10 touchdown passes and 7 interceptions, and completed 11-of-16 passes for 111 yards and one touchdown in relief against Dallas in Week 2.
