Davante Adams gashed the New York Giants last week with eight catches, 195 yards, and two scores... The first reason to be pessimistic on Adams' opportunity to put up big numbers is the matchup he will face in Patrick Surtain... While Trent McDuffie is making the debate difficult, Surtain still has the strongest case as the NFL's best shutdown corner.

Adams faces Surtain and Denver's elite secondary; expect regression from 195-yard outing.

Adams posted 8 catches, 195 yards, and 2 TDs against the Giants but faces a difficult matchup against Denver's Patrick Surtain, the NFL's best shutdown corner. With Puka Nacua doubtful, Surtain can focus narrowly on Adams. Advanced metrics show Adams averages 11.1 yards per target against man coverage with single-high safety, but the Broncos allow just 4.9 yards per target in that same coverage. Riley Moss is also underappreciated in Denver's secondary, and the Broncos have been better than expected with slot players. The source expects Adams to face an uphill battle and should not repeat his Week 1 performance.
