Yahoo Sports NFL on Mac Jones

Giants considering Mac Jones as QB option after Dart injury; Nagy may prefer him over Fields.

Mac Jones is among five quarterbacks the New York Giants are considering after Jaxson Dart's knee injury ruled him out for the rest of the regular season. Giants offensive coordinator Matt Nagy coached the Bears in 2021 and selected Justin Fields over Jones in the draft; Nagy may now be more inclined to give Jones a shot based on how that decision played out and how Mac performed in 2025. 49ers GM John Lynch referenced San Francisco's history at the position as a reason to hold onto Jones, noting that the Niners needed him for half of last season when Brock Purdy was unavailable.
