Gibbs' pass protection weakness prompted increased Vaki usage and two-back packages.

Gibbs played 45 snaps (69%) in Week 3 against the Jets but faced repeated A-gap blitzes from defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn that exposed a pass protection weakness, leading to increased snaps for backup Sione Vaki; the Lions countered with 21 personnel packages featuring both backs on the field simultaneously.
