Season-ending knee injury triggered Giants' urgent QB trade for McCarthy.

Giants starter suffered season-ending knee injury that prompted immediate quarterback acquisition; injury forced New York to trade fifth-round pick to Minnesota for J.J. McCarthy despite having Jameis Winston as backup. Dart's absence combined with Winston's poor performance (6 FGs, 0 TDs in two games) left Giants without end-zone production across 20 possessions and 18 total points across two full games.
