Gibbs' contract mirrors Robinson's; coach using peer competition to drive motivation.

Gibbs signed a three-year, $67.5 million contract with Detroit after being selected 12th overall in the 2023 NFL Draft, nearly identical to Bijan Robinson's deal ($66.75M, 3-year) with Atlanta. Lions running backs coach Tashard Choice, who coached both players in college, is actively using Robinson as a competitive motivator, telling Gibbs after Robinson's 194-yard, 2-TD performance vs. the Packers: 'they [saying] he's better than you. You've got to go do something.' Gibbs responded with 164 scrimmage yards and 3 TDs vs. the Jets, demonstrating he's responding to the competitive push.
