Ekeler's role unclear with White handling passing game duties; could play early-down or special teams.

Ekeler's role on the 2026 Commanders roster remains unclear under new offensive coordinator David Blough. The Commanders signed White to handle Ekeler's role in the passing game, and White has performed well through three weeks. Ekeler could serve in several roles, including as an early-down running back or kickoff returner. The source highlights that Ekeler has elite patience and vision, contrasting with Croskey-Merritt, who is the most explosive back on the roster but sometimes hits the hole too fast and shows a lack of patience.
