Dart out for season with torn meniscus and MCL; triggered McCarthy trade.

Jaxson Dart, the second-year pro and Giants starting quarterback, suffered a torn meniscus and MCL in his left knee on the first series against the Rams in Week 2, ending his season. This injury was part of what Harbaugh called a "shock sandwich" of back-to-back catastrophic losses (Dart's injury followed by Brian Burns' season-ending ACL tear the following week). Dart's injury prompted the Giants to acquire J.J. McCarthy from Minnesota.
