Thornton suffered a dislocated ankle late in the Chiefs' 30-27 win over Las Vegas and is set for surgery this week with a 12 to 16-week recovery timeline. Ian Rapoport reported that after extensive tests, Thornton has "a real chance at a late-season or playoff return." The surgery will be performed by Dr. Norman Waldrop, a top foot and ankle specialist. At the time of injury, Thornton led the team in yards per reception (19.9) and ranked second in yards (219), and is the only wide receiver with multiple touchdowns this season.
