Mariota's MCL sprain sidelines Commanders backup; return timeline uncertain.

Washington Commanders backup quarterback Marcus Mariota suffered a sprained MCL of his right knee on Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts, the same injury he sustained in an Aug. 14 preseason game versus Miami; the timetable for his return remains uncertain per coach Dan Quinn. Mariota had started the past two games in place of Jayden Daniels and led the Commanders to a 33-31 home win over Seattle in Week 3 before the injury occurred when he was sacked by defensive tackle Adetomiwa Adebawore on third-and-goal from the 6-yard line.
